The release date and what changed in every Filewise version, newest first. Notes are the original notes published with each update. Latest version: 0.7.4.
0.7.4 · Latest
Faster and lighter: AI naming is about twice as fast and no longer occasionally suggests meaningless names; switching quickly between files no longer lags; the local model download now resumes after an interruption; the installer is smaller, the content index uses less disk space, and older local models that are no longer used are cleaned up automatically.
0.7.3
Fixed automatic updates: Filewise used to check for new versions only when you chose "Check for Updates…". It now checks automatically in the background.
Already using Filewise? Versions 0.7.2 and earlier don't check for updates on their own. Choose Filewise → Check for Updates… from the menu bar, or download 0.7.3 again. After that, updates arrive automatically.
0.7.2
New: Share. Select a file, a folder, or several items, then share from the action pane or the right-click menu. Filewise opens the macOS share sheet (AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Notes, and more) and sends the file itself, not a link.
0.7.1
More reliable undo: you can now undo your last rename, move, archive or AI rename even after restarting Filewise. If some files have moved or their original spot is taken, Filewise tells you which ones couldn't be restored instead of failing silently. Undoing Copy or Duplicate moves the copy to the Trash — nothing is ever deleted.
Clearer server connections: WebDAV and other network volumes show the server name in the sidebar instead of dav, and a failed connection now tells you whether it was the network, your credentials, the address, or a cancel.
Steadier AI naming: empty candidates such as punctuation-only names are rejected; when in doubt, the original name is kept.
Fixed: crash diagnostics could be written twice.
0.7.0
Filewise now speaks English. It follows your system language by default, and you can switch anytime in Settings → General → Interface language. The change applies immediately.
It is not just the buttons: the folders Filewise creates when filing (Finance, Travel, Contracts, Screenshots), the sample files, and the names the local model suggests are all in English too.
Chinese document recognition is untouched — invoices, itineraries and statements still work exactly as before.
0.6.0
First launch now walks you through three steps: grant Full Disk Access, download the local AI model (about 2 GB, once), then try it on a sample file. Download progress and source are visible; if it fails you see why, and Retry switches to the next mirror
When the local model isn't ready yet, suggestions are labeled “basic naming” instead of pretending the AI read the file
New “Search contents” (⌘⇧F): turn on the local content index in Settings and search inside PDFs, OCR'd images, Office and text files, in Chinese or English. The index stays on your Mac
Watch: the menu-bar icon can be hidden without stopping the watcher; a failed rename no longer reports success — the item stays in the list with Retry. Files over 64 MB are no longer read in full
0.5.9
“Connect to Server” is smoother: WebDAV no longer bounces to the browser or crashes, one dialog for address + username + password, plus SFTP; any mounted drive ejects in one click. Naming is more grounded: it checks content harder before naming — it won’t label an invoice with a similar-but-wrong company, and won’t invent a topic that isn’t there
0.5.8
New “Connect to Server” (⌘K or the sidebar): mount SMB / AFP / NFS / FTP / WebDAV servers — credentials stay in the system Keychain, and you organize the moment it mounts
0.5.7
Cloud drives, one click away: the sidebar’s “Cloud” section auto-lists whatever you have — iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Nutstore — no setup
0.5.6
Cloud drives supported: online-only files get a ☁︎ marker and are never silently downloaded when organizing — right-click “Download & name by content” to opt in
0.5.5
Legacy invoices now recognized: older “增值税电子普通发票” PDFs whose text can’t be decoded fall back to page OCR; list view gained right-click “Copy Path” + ⌘⌥C
0.5.4
Much sharper invoice recognition across ride-hailing, train, dining, hotel, flight and travel-agency e-invoices — total reads the 价税合计 field, full-width train amounts parse, seller no longer swapped with buyer (verified 86/86 on real invoices)
0.5.3
New Chinese e-invoice reader: pulls the seller, billed entity, expense type, tax-inclusive total and issue date straight into the filename
0.5.2
Fixed images, screenshots and scans reading as empty on recent macOS — OCR and naming work again
Sort by time now mixes files and folders by creation date, newest first — no longer buried under folders
Faster local-brain setup: the model now downloads from the official mirror
0.5.1
“Name it with AI” always responds now — a suggested name to accept, or an honest reason it couldn’t
0.5.0
Sharper local naming (company, doc type, source); clear local-brain status; uses Apple Intelligence on supported Macs — no download
0.4.1
Watch any folders you choose; skips source & dev files; new pre-read for instant suggestions
0.4.0
Single / dual / tri / quad panes with drag-between; customizable naming structure; much better Chinese recognition
0.3.8
