Filewise Support

Frequently asked questions. If yours is not here, write to [email protected].

Are my file contents uploaded?

No. Reading, OCR, naming and learning all run offline on your Mac. See the Privacy Policy.

Will it delete my files?

No. Filewise only renames and moves. It shows a plan first, writes an undo log for every step, and can roll back in one click.

Does it need the internet?

Not for everyday use. It goes online in three cases only: update checks, the first-launch model download in the slim edition, and anonymous usage statistics.

How do I turn off usage statistics?

Settings → General → Privacy and improvement, then switch off "Send anonymous usage statistics".

Why does it ask for Full Disk Access?

It is needed to read files in protected folders such as Downloads and Documents. Without it, Filewise can only work on locations you pick by hand. Grant it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access.

How do I uninstall?

Quit Filewise and drag the app to the Trash. To clear local data as well, delete ~/Library/Application Support/Filewise.
